Test the frying pan.
20 cm Classic Biol aluminium frying pan with non-stick coating is to be tested.
1. Testability.
Requirement:
Test:
- bottom thickness;
- non-stick coating resistance to mechanical stress;
- non-stick coating adhesion;
- handle thermal conductivity;
- form factor of compound components;
- compatibility of components;
- handy to use;
- handle holding strength . It must withstand at least 10 kg load
- non-stick coating service life;
- the rate of frying pan surface heating.
Decision: Conditions allow us to test the frying pan by all criteria
2. Unit Testing.
Task:
The body shall be concave with a flat thickened rounded bottom 7 mm thick and 200 mm in diameter embossed from aluminium. The surface is covered with polytetrafluoroethylene, by spraying «Xylan».
Bottom of the body from the outside is to be made as a ribbed plate, where the ribs are arranged as a concentric circles. There is 40 mm round "Biol" logo in the center.
Side height is to be 46 mm and the outer circle diameter is to be 250 mm.
30 mm wide aluminum shielding bracket (hereinafter referred to as "bracket ") shall have 27 ° cut-off angle at the place of welding, equal to the angle of inclination of the frying pan side. This is done in order to place the bracket exactly in parallel with the heating surface, when it is welded.
The bracket shall have M5x35 screw hole with an internal thread.
The handle is made of plastic with the M5x35 screw hole at the base. It also has a 15 mm hole for hanging at the other end.
The handle has an oblong ergonomic shape.
It has an oval mounting thumb deepening on top near the base.
M5x35 8.8 property class screw has a convex head, flat end and Phillips crest.
Unit Testing Procedure: Explore the body, the bracket, the handle and the screw visually for an existence of all the above criteria. Verify the component size correspondence using measuring instruments.
Expectation:
All elements shall meet the stated requirements
Defect: 2 mm mismatch of the frying pans side surface height is found. It is 48 mm, in fact.
3. Integration Testing.
Task: All frying pans components made in different factories.
Check their conformity to each other and and their operation together.
Integration Testing Procedure: Attach the bracket to the frying pans side surface and check their conformity to each other.
Weld the bracket to the frying pan side surface. Attach the handle to the frying pan with the screw, screwing it into the bracket through the screw hole at the handle base.
Check the component contact, the screwing quality, the backlash presence.
Expectation: All elements shall fit each other
Defect: Not found.
4. Smoke Testing.
Task:
Test the frying pan possibility to be heated up to 100 ° C.
Smoke Testing Procedure: Light a gas burner on the stove.
Put the frying pan on the burner.
Pour a tablespoon of water and wait a few minutes.
Expectation: Water shall boil away.
Defect: Not found.
5. Functional Testing.
Task:
Test:
- the frying pan heating uniformity;
- the non-stick surface adhesion.
Functional Testing Procedure: Use the chicken egg albumen to check the frying pan heating uniformity (albumen coagulates fast and it is easy to apply it on the frying pan surface evenly).
Heat the frying pan on the gas burner for 1 minute, pour the albumen onto the frying pan and heat for another 30 seconds. Expectation: Albumen coagulates evenly over the entire surface.
Defect: Not found.
2). Functional Testing Procedure: Use the charred milk to test the non-stick surface adhesion.
Put the frying pan on the gas burner, heat it, pour the milk so that it covers the bottom.
Wait for the liquid evaporation and darkening.
Expectation: remove milk leftover from the surface with a sponge under running water without any effort.
Defect: Not found.
6. GUI Testing.
Requirement:
GUI Testing Procedure: Explore the body visually against the the images.
Expectation:
The frying pan shall meet pictures
Defect: Not found.
7. Usability Testing.
Task: The handle shall not heat or melt when the frying pan is heated. The frying pan shall not slip out from the hands.
Usability Testing Procedure:
Use the frying pan for cooking
Expectation:
Compliance with all above frying pan requirements.
Usability Note: the handle does not heat when the frying pan is heated, because it's made of plastic, which has low thermal conductivity.
The handle does not melt, as it is attached to the body through the aluminum shielding bracket that extinguishes the flame.
The frying pan is comfortable to hold in the hand due to its ergonomic shape.
Defect:
Not found.
8. Regression Testing.
Task: Check the unit testing defect.
The frying pan side surface was 2 mm above the stated size.
Regression Testing Procedure: Repeat the measurement of the frying pan side surface.
Expectation:
The frying pan side surface should meet the stated requirements
Defect: Not found.
9. Performance Testing.
Task:
Test the rate of the frying pan surface heating.
The frying pan surface shall heat up to 100 ° C within 30 seconds
Performance Testing Procedure: Heat the frying pan on the gas burner within 30 seconds.
Drip a water drop onto the frying pan.
Expectation:The water drop shall sizzle and boil away
Defect: Not found.
10. Load Testing.
Task:
Test the non-stick coating service life. Service life shall be at least 3000 heatings and coolings without abrupt temperature changes.
Test the handle fastening. It shall withstand at least 10 kg load.
Load Testing Procedure: Heat and cool the frying pan rapidly in cold running water until erosion signs appear on the non-stick surface coating.
Expectation:
Erosion signs shall appear no earlier than after 400 cycles.
Defect: Erosion signs started to appear after 500 cycle of heating and cooling.
Load Testing Procedure: Put in the frying pan weights weighing 12.5 kg, 13 kg, 14 kg, in turn holding the frying pan by the handle.
Expectation: The strength of the handle fastening shall be tested successfully.
Defect: The fastening withstood the load, but the bracket thread started deforming which gave free play and the handle came loose.
11. Stress Testing.
Task: Use the frying pan with flatware made from different materials.
Stress Testing Procedure: Cook in the frying pan using steel, silver, wooden and plastic spatulas.
Determine the result of using different materials (make sure that the surface is not damaged).
Expectation:
Steel and silver spatulas will scratch the surface.
Defect: The steel spatula causes a serious mechanical damage, leaving deep scratches on the surface.
The silver spatula also leaves scratches, but less often and not so deep. Wooden and plastic spatulas leaves no scratches on the frying pans surface.
