My fellow citizens of Russia! Dear friends!

I have just pronounced the words of presidential oath in accordance with the Constitution. Now I'd like to return to the main sense of it once more and said: responsibilities of the president to save the state and faithfully serve people remain holy for me and will be above all things.

I will rely on the fact as before that help and support of Russian citizens are the main and the most reliable (dependable) foundations in the President's activity (work).

And today I would like to thank everyone who has rendered a high faith and honour having elected me to the post of Russian President. Everyone who during the last four years contributed to the general results of our country.

Previous years were not easy for us. Put it baldly (tell you the truth) it was time of hardships. Then, in 2000, many problems seemed just impossible to solve.

But in critical situations Russian people showed/displayed their bestpatriotic and civil qualities. When we fought for territorial integrity, for the unity of our country. Either when we were working hardly to build up the basis for the development of Russian economical potential.

Together we managed to do lots of things. And we managed to do it by ourselves.

We ourselves achieved high rates of development of our economy. We overcame difficult ideological opposition and now we become, gradually we become, the united nation.

We ourselves stopped the agression of the international terrorism. We saved our country from the real threat of desintegration.

Together we made our country open. The country that is ready to a broad and equal collaboration with other governments/countries. The country that consolidates its positions in the international scene and that is able to stand for its legal interests using peaceful means.
