The theme of postgraduate research of Dmitry is the development of combined methods of simulations of ionic channels of cells using quantum chemistry, molecular dynamics and brownian dynamics.

The development of these methods and program packages is an actual goal of modern biophysics and neurobiology, because it allows solving the problem of modelling of transmission of nerve impulses on molecular level.

The computational chemistry group of prof. Michael E Green for more than 15 years has been conducting the research of voltage-gated ion channels using ab initio quantum chemistry methods and developing the special force fields.

On the basis of group's research results there has been published more than 30 articles in leading scientific journals, such as Biophysical Journal, The Journal of Physical Chemistry etc.

Group is actively developing algorythmos for parallel computations and using supercomputers for simulations.

In view of the above, the education in computational chemistry group of prof. Michael E. Green will provide the student with the following features:

Application of ab initio methods for problems of simulation of ionic conductivity.

Developing the force-fields for multiscale modeling.

Experience in parallelisation of computational algorythms for supercomputer (3.4 petaFLOPS).

Research of influence of water molecules on ionic transport process in voltage-gated ionic channels.

Research on molecular mechanism of activation in voltage-gated ionic channels and role of protonic transport.

Dependency of activation level on the content of membranes.

This experience will be useful for successful conclusion of PhD and continuing of scientific research,
