About cancelling the hrivniya negrun 27.03.14 в 21:03 |

Since March 20th rumour has it that Yatseniuk's goverment is planning to withdraw the hrivniya from circulation. Nothing dramatic at first glance: changing old hrivniya for new ones. However situation gets tense quite quickly- it is beleived that the goverment will collapse and withdraw the hrivniya. Some even go as far as telling ''remember how it happened in the USSR'' when new roubles were changes to new ones at a rate different than 1:1. This possibly targets older people as for most youth scary stories about the USSR do not have much of an effect. negrun 27.03.14 в 21:10 |

The actual article can be found here (if the author deletes it we have everything saved separately). The whole livejournal is quite one-sided and although the author claims to just have the intention to clear things out, the article subtly injects tensions. The blog was created on March 10th. The author began writing the post about the hrivniya almost since registering. His first writings began with ''predictions''. negrun 27.03.14 в 21:19 |

Ukraine's National Bank denied this information negrun 27.03.14 в 22:17 |

We have contacted Lvov bank and obtained an official commentary from Christina Stefanchuk, head of marketing department. She said '' over the last week on Russian websites and on Russian TV channels false claims about the withdrawal of the hrivniya have been aired. Those announcements which were made ''on behalf'' of the Lvov Bank are incorrect. Lvov Bank's Press Office has never published any information of that kind on its website. These claims are false and have the sole objective to undermine the image of our bank and other Ukranian banks'' negrun 28.03.14 в 11:44 |

The most solid argument in favor of the cacellation story is the existence of the cache page in Google. On the other hand, one should keep in mind that the bank's website was most probably made by one individual positioning himself as a web design studio writing CMS in PHP for 10 years now. Taking this into account along with other details we suspect either vulnerability of the system or a inside job. In all cases our inquiry did not surprise the bank and it is quite possible that its press release will be published shortly. Also, the screen shot of the presented page was modified subsequently. negrun 28.03.14 в 12:02 |

In the preceding paragraph the link is not to Google's cache but rather to Archive.is which allows to save site versions from Google's cache. The direct google link was still working around noon today and now it is no longer working. negrun 28.03.14 в 12:33 |

The author's screenshot itself looks more or less credible, but does not match Google's cache version. There are different shades of pink inside and there is lack of semitransparent gradient on the document's icon (this effect takes place on original images in the browser) negrun 28.03.14 в 13:13 |

ELA result tells us that the image was saved on top of another image. (Compare with the real one for yourself). The Rainbow curve, which saved us more than once, also shows incongruous items. This tool shows clearly what the gradient is. negrun 28.03.14 в 13:19 |

The screenshots' properties are Adobe RGB and there are no exif data. This is not dramatic by itself, however it looks like a Save For Web team's job in Adobe Photoshop, which has ruined many photographers' color reproduction in different browsers. negrun 28.03.14 в 13:21 |

Somebody has lately saved two ''photos'' of the whole archive.is website: negrun 28.03.14 в 13:30 |

Let's take PDF file now: negrun 28.03.14 в 13:38 |

|
The most important is that the document is referring to the Decision of the Ukraine's National Bank Direction of March 12th 2014 No 31 '' About the design approval and release dates of the new model hrivniya''. On the official website this decision does not exist and the number does not correspond to current ones. We could stop here, but let's investigate obvious incongruities further. negrun 28.03.14 в 13:42 |

|
Second of all, the name of the document is áàíê ëüâîâ .pdf.pdf. If it had been downloaded directly from the website it would have had a more accurate name like the neighbouring document for example. Also we doubt that in that case it would have had a second .pdf extention. The neighbouring document's name is '' Rules for servicing personal account.pdf''. It is also to note that the size of the document differs slightly from A4 as it is 20.96x29.21 cm. On top of that if we copy the file's name in the time forgotten decoder Lebedev Studio, which was used when mail was still coming in unkown encoding (bNOPNYA) we obtain '' Lvov Bank'' and a transposition from CP1252 to CP1251. The most interesting here is the title in Russian as the bank's website is written exclusively in Ukranian and contains no Russian words. negrun 28.03.14 в 13:50 |

|
Third, the pdf document we are concerned with is created following the '' Rules for Servicing ...'' sample (Verdana font is used, the text breakdown is similar), however with lack of attention to details. For example the font size is different, the intervals are not the same, there are several mistakes, typos and stylistic inaccuracies. "In connection with the replacement come into circulation banknotes of national currency of Ukraine" makes no sense, ''due to change'' (to the), ''until separate explanation'' (very bizarre oficial tone) negrun 28.03.14 в 14:12 |

We analyzed one banknote and it appeared very familiar. If we mirror the '' 10 new hrivniya '' horizontally (2) and vertically (3) and we compare the result to the old 5 euro sample (in circulation up to the 2013) the source of inspiration is revealed. The size matches, the Ukraine's coat of arms is insterted horribly. If we go further and search for '' Sophia of Kiev'' we fall on the famous iconic image of the cathedral. Here is the possible source as it matches almost pixel to pixel. (4) negrun 28.03.14 в 14:27 |

If we look up the colleague the source is quoting in one of the posts in Vkontanke we find a full bunch of napoleons, stalins and kutuzovs, all of them with imperial ribbons. negrun 28.03.14 в 14:45 |

Here is a video from the same blog in the livejournal, but uploaded by a different non existent author with a newly open account. It looks very romantic and contains enigmatic music as if we are watching a regional channel from the 900s. negrun 28.03.14 в 14:50 |

We obtained such a volume that conclusions are superfluous. We just want to add that theories about an occupant sionistic goverment have never added credibility to documents. negrun 28.03.14 в 14:51 |
