Alabuga special economic zone (SEZ).

Industrial production special economic zone in Russia.

Alabuga SEZ is the largest industrial production special economic zone in Russia, and became the best SEZ in Europe (according to the Financial Times).

Project Outline

We faced the challenge of developing a large-scale federal project with a capacity of 200,000 people at a time and 3 million unique users just in 3 months. We had to provide the accurate analysis and the consistent work of the platform. We are planning to scale up the project further.

The contractors took a test, which the SatvaSpace team passed with the best results.

For its own college, Alabuga SEZ needed high potential students for further training and employment. In order to effectively search and shortlist students across Russia, Alabuga SEZ developed requirements. An HR portal will be an interactive service for HR specialists to work with and shortlist applicants; it will accumulate information on each candidate and track their soft-skills development and progress. We are sure that such an effective human resource tool which is not restricted to its geographical location will turn to be useful for many other corporations as well.

One of the assessment tools on the platform will be a business simulation economic strategy game called Business Cats. The Business Cats simulation is a long-term federal project. High-quality implementation of the game is crucial for its purpose of teaching over one million users how to increase their financial awareness while playing. Additional public finance was secured to scale up the game further. The game concept was supported by the federal line ministries. Choosing a contractor to implement the game is not just another stage for Alabuga SEZ, but a decision that will largely determine the success and effectiveness of the product. Alabuga SEZ is not simply planning to obtain the finished product, but is also focused on its subsequent development: a new version of the game is currently being developed and more functionality is being provided (a team version of the game, where each role has its own set of features). That is why the choice was obvious, and SatvaSpace started working on the project.

SatvaSpace Solution

As soon as the auditing was complete, our developers quickly decided on the tools for business simulation which represents the idea developed by Alabuga SEZ. The SatvaSpace team could efficiently program the logic of rating hundreds of applicants. The basic technology stack includes Python and React.

Our team succeeded in making the user interface clear and user-friendly, and not overloaded with widgets. The design meets all modern ergonomic requirements and provides easy access to the main system functions and operations.

Backend

Python 3.8 is a virtual machine that works faster than 3.6, it has a more mature asyncio package compared to 3.7 (task names, more informative stack trace).

Sanic Framework is a simple async server that supports WebSockets.

Asyncio. Every game processing cycle requires up to 25 persistent WebSocket connections. This asynchronous framework spared us loads of overhead, and its async/await syntax helped the developers to avoid getting into callback hell.

Pydantic let us sort out our JSON-messages; it differs from the python dataclasses in nesting support.

Architectural features

Separate bots and a game server. Bots use the same game API as regular players. Thus they can be exported to separate processes (or even separate hosts) and the game API can be tested with bots to reduce the amount of testing for the game servers.

A dedicated server cluster without a coordinator. When the game is created, users are given a path to the server which they will play on. This eliminates a single load-bearing point and allows servers to infinitely scale without any overhead.

Absence of a single unified database allows to reduce database query time to zero, and eliminates the need to think about table locks, so that neighbouring games do not slow each other down; this also provides data migration when backend versions are updated.

Frontend

MobX Router

We did not use the TypeScript typing as we had to work on the project to a tight deadline. Therefore, a little more time was given to describe methods.

The project required reactivity, and mostly just this React feature is used. We also used some for convenience’s sake.

We needed a simple store for state management (storage and change). This is why we chose mobX over Redux, as its setup would have increased the development time.

I consider SatvaSpace real experts who meet their customer's needs. Special thanks to the technical director Dmitry Golikov. I recommend the company to everyone.

Dynamic Scene

An interactive TV menu for cafes, restaurants and supermarkets.

DynamicScene is an interactive digital menu for cafes, restaurants and supermarkets.

As soon as you walk into a McDonald's or a Burger King, you can see digital menu boards positioned in the checkout area. DynamicScene is a similar application. This is an Interactive digital menu for cafés, restaurants and supermarkets.

All you need to run the client’s system is a regular TV and a streaming device

There is no need to buy a server, all the data are stored in the cloud

The system does not require continuous internet connection

Project Outline

The client needed an application with an intuitive interface and high data processing speed.

SatvaSpace Solution

The project required fully dynamic data structures and a visual form designer to create those. It is implemented with ReactJS and Java.

The service includes:

-A mobile app for a streaming device.

-A server used for system administration to manages scenes and menus. This can be done in the web interface.

-A mobile app for the restaurant manager to immediately change prices or remove items in case the venue runs out of a dish.

Project Outline

The client contacted us with an idea of an easy-to-use information service for users of electronic payment systems. We worked in close collaboration with the client to perform UserFlow analysis, build a website prototype and plan the design. We were also responsible for CI/CD set up, the technology stack decisions according to the required workload and the development of the Web Part and the administrative panel.

As a result, we built a website which uses Vue.js and Django frameworks. The project deliverables are:

Sorting algorithms using complex formulas

A possibility to browse e-wallets by category

A user-friendly search engine

A rating system with an option to write user reviews

Registration is through existing Google or Facebook accounts

A feedback form

A blog section

Overviews of electronic money companies, which can be added via the admin panel

At the moment, the project website is being actively filled with content to keep up-to-date information on payment systems. At the same time, a dynamic content aggregator website is being developed to explore various business theories.

I had worked with SatvaSpace before, and I knew how high their level of expertise would be. I was sure that I would certainly get a team of experts. The team is flexible because its work is not hampered by red tape. We had frequent phone conversations and discussed the requirements while negotiating. There were no long chains from the account to the managers and back. I can also add that SatvaSpace kindly agreed to help us with the requirements analysis and negotiate pricing, which was also important. Many times they suggested creative solutions which we could not have found on our own. Thanks to that, we got a top-class product, which we are now actively testing.

Question to the Client: If you have any development requests in the future that suit us, would you like to work with us again?

Sure, but I hope that this project is just the beginning or our collaboration and I don't plan to part ways.
