Roskomnadzor blocks the “Shoplifting” article by the Tobolsky district court of Tyumen region decision № 2–3073/2015 as of 15.12.2016
The Tobolsk court decision is on its website.
I wrote a detailed article about this a month ago. It's funny there:
The webpage screenshot implies that <address> there is information propagating larceny of goods from malls and shops on the Internet as of DD.MM.YYYY.
Articles 158 and 161 of The Criminal Code of Russia impose criminal liability for <data removed> (theft) and open (robbery) larceny. Besides, Article 7.27 of The Code of the Russian Federation on Administrative Offenses imposes administrative liability for petty stealing.
Follow the train of thought: first the court calls the crime description a crime propagation. And then it de facto equalizes the description with the crime itself, referring to the fact theft and robbery lead to criminal liability in Russia.
Thus:
The court agrees with the prosecutor's argument that when the info propagating theft of goods from malls and shops is publically available on the Internet, de facto it contributes to committing such crimes and offences, thus violating rights of the Russian Federation and general public.
The court takes Russian citizens for idiots who would read on the web how to shoplift a chocolate bar — and immediately will go for a theft.
Q.: why Roskomnadzor is the defendant? A.: someone has to, and RKN won't object for sure. That's its job — censorship of the web. Good riddance to webpages.
