Sheet division of topographic maps at the scale 1:25.000
Until the middlle of 1930, used the following system sheet division (see figure 1)
Fig.1 Sheet division of topographic map at the scale 1: 100,000 by 12 map sheets iat the scale 1: 25.000 (old type of sheet division).
i.e. a sheet of a topographic map at the scale 1: 100,000 divided into 12 sheets of dimension 10 minutes of longitude and latitude for 5 minutes.
Later sheet division of map conform to generally accepted international type (see figure 2):
Fig.2 - sheet division of topographic map at the scale 1: 100,000 by 16 map sheets at the scale 1: 25.000 (generally accepted international sheet division ).
i.e. a sheet of a topographic map at the scale 1: 100,000 divided into 16 sheets of dimension 7.5 minutes of longitude and latitude for 5 minutes.
Topographic maps at the scale 1: 25.000 in the old sheet division, published in the early 1930 was one-colored or three-colored.
It should be noted that the nomenclature of these maps was slightly different from the generally accepted international type. Sheet of map at the scale 1: 100,000 was divided into 12 sheets at the scale 1: 25,000. The sheets had alphanumeric numeration at the scale 1: 100,000 with the addition arabic number from 1 to 12 (for example: O-41-136-5, N-40-34-11). Some of these sheets had a more complicated numbering. To the number of sheet in international nomenclature added combination of russian letters - А, Б, В, Г and arabic numerals 1,2,3,4 (e.g., N-40-45-A-4 to the left side of the sheet and N-40-45-B-3 for the right side of the sheet). See figure sheet division topographic map at the scale 1: 100,000 by 12 map sheets at the scale 1: 25.000 (old type of sheet division ).
1.3 - The scale 1:42.000
There is evidence (see Illustrated catalog, Moscow, Geokartprom Publ, 1927, p.35.), that in 1919-1920 were shooted and published topographic maps at the scale 1: 42.000 of the following territories of Chelyabinsk area:
Zlatoust and the surrounding area, 11 sheets.

Chelyabinsk and surrounding area, 10 sheets.
Range of sheets nomenclature is between 143-LXVI - LXVI-147
Troitsk and the surrounding area, 6 sheets.
Range of sheets nomenclature is between LXXI-148 - LXXI-LXXII-150 or 148 - LXXII-150
Geokartprom Catalogue, 1927, p. 35
There is evidence that the individual sheets of these maps were republished in 1920-1930
Maps was printed in one color.
The numbering of maps made by roman and arabic numerals. The number designated by roman numerals, indicating a number of geographic latitude. The number indicated by arabic numerals, indicating the position of the map sheet in a row (i.e. longitude).
Under the nomenclature number of map is placed the name of the largest settlements shown on the map.
Some information on the history of the emergence of these topographic maps are contained in article I.V.Zaharina The role of the Red Army military topographers 1918-1923.
Journal of Natural Sciences, 2007, p. 81
Desire to satisfy
