Каждый последний поход в кино сопровождался просмотром рекламных роликов Шрека 2. На дому прослушал массу анонсов о том, что, дескать «правильный перевод только в кино». Хотя, как известно, правильный перевод — он только у мега-студии полный Пэ. Ради интереса сходил, посмотрел Шрек 2 в кино.

Общее впечатление — старались, да. То есть откровенных ошибок, когда просто лень посмотреть, что там по-английски написано, и ляпнуть что первое в башку взбрело — почти нет. Другое дело, в фильме полно фраз с двойным значением и игры слов. Тут наши умельцы не справились совсем.

Из того, что особенно резануло слух:

Prince Charming — Принц Чарминг

В фильме речь идет о прекрасном принце из сказки. Типа «принцесса ждала прекрасного принца». Не Чарминга, а прекрасного. А сына феи так и зовут — Прекрасный. И через это, к примеру, король всегда, когда говорит «prince Charming», он имеет в виду конкретного человека и называет имя — Charming. А его жена-королева думает, что он имеет в виду стандартного «прекрасного принца».

По-русски легко изготавливается «принц Прекрасный» и «прекрасный принц». Ничего подобного в дубляже нет, мощный шутейный слой — просто загублен.

Prince Charming is a stock character who appears in a number of fairy tales. He is the prince who comes to rescue of the damsel in distress, and stereotypically, must engage in a quest to liberate her from an evil spell. The name has been given to the heroes of a number of traditional folk tales, including Snow White, and Cinderella.

These characters are often handsome and romantic, a foil to the heroine, and are seldom deeply characterized, or even distinguishable from other such men who marry the heroine. Prince Charming is also the name given to a handsome man of great attractiveness.

In many variants, they can be viewed more as rewards for the heroine rather than characters.[1]

«Prince Charming» is also used as a term to refer to the idealized man some people dream of as a future spouse.
