Imagine how fed up I was with my own office if being in the woods, in another world, with no means of survival and under the constant threat of being eaten by something, I felt like I finally managed to relax! No, really, I was having a great time! The fish was still new for me, I even managed to learn how to smoke it, the water from the river I couldn’t boil, obviously, but I still somehow didn’t get sick from it. All things considered, the mood of this adventure felt relaxed and romantic. Camrad_RIP 17.05.21 в 15:01 No, really, I was having a pretty good time! The fish still didn’t bore me with its taste, I even managed to learn how to smoke it, the water from the river I couldn’t boil, for obvious reasons, but I still somehow didn’t get sick from drinking it. First of all, because I was worried (Isekai protagonists are never afraid) for my own skin. A completely unfamiliar world had already nearly squashed me several times. The first two of those, by the way, happened before I even stepped into it! In short, I felt I had enough reasons to be concerned for my well-being in the nearest future. Camrad_RIP 17.05.21 в 15:02 First of all, because I was understandably worried (as Isekai protagonists are never afraid) for my own skin. This completely unfamiliar world was rather close to squashing me like a bug a few times already, and the first two of my near-death experiences happened before I took a single step on this world’s soil! Needless to say, I felt that I had enough reasons to be concerned for my well-being in the nearest future. Mortis_X 20.11.21 в 13:47 |

I was careful to light the fire only with dry branches, those barely produced any smoke. I always acted near the river with caution, and only fish only where the water was clear and the bottom could easily be seen from a considerable distance. At night I fell asleep worried, reasonably fearing a visit from the green-skinned freaks who just might have had followed me down the river. In general, I had seen more than enough unpleasant things that could make me die on the spot to imagine the depths of the asshole I was permanently in. Camrad_RIP 17.05.21 в 15:03 I was careful to light the fire only with dry branches, those barely produced any smoke. A separate topic would be the pumping, which I continued, despite my laziness and unwillingness to move my bars for extra numbers. How do these issekaited heroes spend their whole lives on hellish training? I hardly forced myself to develop and that only because my life depended on it, and there was nothing to do anyway! Camrad_RIP 17.05.21 в 15:12 A separate topic would be the grinding, which I continued, despite my laziness and unwillingness to move my ass for an arbitrary increase in numbers. How do these issekai heroes spend their whole lives on hellish grind? No, really, how?! I could hardly force myself to train, the only reason I did any amount of work was because my life literally depended on those pesky numbers in my stat screen! By the way, it was the training that showed me the deep meaning behind the title of Hero. When I read in my status that it would be easier for me to train and develop characteristics, I thought it was something ephemeral. You know, twenty percent plus or something. I mean, I've read all kinds of early books, where the hero got a hundred points in strength just by moving his eyebrows, but I didn't try it on myself - I didn't believe in fairy tales, even if I had a shot at it. And yet, I felt the awesomeness of being a hero. Camrad_RIP 17.05.21 в 15:13 It was the training that allowed me to feel the real depth of the Hero title, allowed me to understand that it wasn’t there for show. When I read in my status that it would be easier for me to train and develop characteristics, I had no idea what exactly that meant, the wording was shapeless and abstract, so I just assumed it would be something like twenty percent increase to the speed of my overall development. I mean, I've read all kinds of silly novels, where the main character gets a hundred points in strength just by lifting his eyebrows up and down, however I didn’t believe for a second that something like that would work for me, after all, real life tends to be very different from novels like that. However, despite my skepticism, I felt firsthand how powerful the heroic titles were. Mortis_X 20.11.21 в 15:50 |

No, I didn't become the second John Rambo overnight, but I did develop abnormally fast. I had a chance to go to the gym for a couple of weeks back on Earth, so I know how hard it is to build muscles and get reflexes into your head. In fact, that's why I stopped going. And now I can pump up the performance just by exercising regularly. Where before I would get overworked and torn muscles, now I would get pluses to my characteristics. This was undoubtedly satisfying, but when I imagined that I would have to fight and confront someone with the same strength, but who had also spent many years perfecting it... Anyway, guys, I'm ashamed and not ashamed of it. Camrad_RIP 17.05.21 в 15:15 No, I didn't become John Rambo Junior overnight, but I was developing abnormally, supernaturally fast. I happened to try hitting up the gym for a couple of weeks back on Earth, so I know how hard it is to build muscles and develop any sort of reflexes. I practiced magic as well all three of my classes were quite magical. Regular fishing with shadows and just manipulating them for fun (don't try picking the nose with a shadow - I almost died from pain in my torn nostril), trying to make something from the ingredients I gathered (I managed to fix my nostril, but not immediately), and even practicing conscious dreaming, though the latter was relatively unsuccessful unless you count the chance to get a full two hours' sleep as success. Camrad_RIP 17.05.21 в 15:21 I practiced my magical abilities too, all three of my classes were pretty much ‘magical’ if you get down to it. Regular fishing with shadows and just manipulating said shadows for fun (don't try picking your nose with a shadow tendril - I felt like I would die from sheer pain when I accidently tore apart the nostril), trying to make something from the ingredients I gathered (I managed to heal said nostril, albeit it took some time), and even practicing lucid dreaming, though that last endeavor wasn’t that successful. Unless you count being able to rest completely in just two hours as success. Mortis_X 20.11.21 в 15:52 |

Alchemy, so far, seemed the most promising. And I am sure that ordinary alchemists, who have no mythical class, cannot create potions from, in fact, "shit and sticks". I suppose it was my alchemical instincts, which made it possible to find useful reagents even in a compost heap or fish scraps. But even with this handicap I was able to make myself an ointment against mosquitoes and mosquito bites (the only pity is that there is nothing to store it in, so you have to make a new one each time), which has a normal smell, several antibiotics and anti-cold mixtures, which I wrapped in leaves, creating a kind of pill, disinfectant composition, which I drank with water from the river, and many other useful little things. I even managed to make an ointment with a regenerative effect, which I was able to use to repair a nostril that had been torn by my idiocy. Alas, I could only make two portions of the latter, for it required three ingredients, and one of them was some obscure flower, which I could not find anymore. Camrad_RIP 17.05.21 в 15:25 But even with all those seatbacks I was able to make myself a pleasant-smelling ointment to repel mosquitoes and another one to ease the irritation from mosquito bites (unfortunately I had nowhere to store those compounds in, so I had to make it every time I needed it), several antibiotics and anti-cold mixtures, which I wrapped in leaves, creating makeshift pills, the disinfectant composition, which I mixed and drank with water from the river, and many other useful little things. I even managed to make an ointment that boosted natural regeneration, which I was able to use to fix a nostril that fell prey to my stupidity. Time passed, skills and characteristics grew. Alchemy and herbalism jumped to the level of journeyman, which was given after crossing the tenth level in the skill. In the same way, stealth developed: apparently, it grows up even on fish. Fishing, be damned, was also rapidly creeping upward and could reach a new top at any moment. Yes, actually, many of the skills were ready to move past the apprentice level. Apparently, the first ten levels were the easiest and rather introductory. Camrad_RIP 17.05.21 в 15:37 Time passed, my skills and characteristics grew. Alchemy and herbalism jumped to the stage of ‘Journeyman’, that happened after I grinded each skill to the numerical value of ten. In the meantime, my stealth skill also increased. The result, however, was felt as it was. Take fishing - where before I had acted more at random due to my shadow skills, experience combined with intuition was now working. I felt intuitive about how to take the right position, where to fish, and how to do it. I was not lazy to catch one fish with my bare hands. It took me only six tries, but it was a fact! However, with my increased dexterity, I could repeat the feat even without the skills of a fisherman. Camrad_RIP 17.05.21 в 15:50 Even so, the results from those skills were noticeable. Take fishing - where before I acted more on instinct, and abused the hell out of my shadow control, now I knew what I was doing, guided by experience in some part, yes, but also by some unexplainable intuition I didn’t have before. I felt intuitively how to take the right position, where the best fishing spot is, and how to actually catch fish safer and faster. Out of curiosity and just to check if I could, I even caught one fish with my bare hands! It took me six tries, but hey, I still managed it! Well, if I were to be completely honest, with my current dexterity that jumped up a few times, I could repeat this feat even without the ‘fishing’ skill at all. Mortis_X 20.11.21 в 15:54 |

It's hard to describe it in words, but I really feel what it's like to become many times stronger, faster, and more dexterous than I was in the past. In my home office, I could fuck up even dragging my own coffee, I could pour it over important files or my own keyboard. Now I could juggle five lumps at once without straining! Magical characteristics also grow, and as if not faster than normal ones. On the other hand, their training was also much harder than the common pushups and squats. Every time I used magic, it was like some kind of emptiness appears in me, sucking out all the juices I had inside me. It was an unpleasant sensation, and it was a bit of an understatement. I also noted that while my energy level was growing very quickly, the concentration, which seems to be responsible for the speed at which I can use my abilities and the amount of power I have wasted, was very difficult to increase. The easiest way to raise it was to use shadows for subtle work. Like picking my nose, yeah. Camrad_RIP 17.05.21 в 16:51 Magical stats also grew, perhaps even faster than physical ones. What was frustrating the most it's the lack of combat skills, like hand-to-hand combat or, say, daggers. I knew that to have them I had to train with weapons I didn't have, or at least just practice. The long work with shadows gave the result, and quite unexpectedly. I was just trying to learn how to create a full-fledged fishing net out of shadows, not just individual tentacles. It is not as easy as it seems, because the more shadows I pull together, the harder it is for me to hold them. I can say the same about holding the shape of an individual shadow - the harder it is, and the emptiness in my chest keeps building up. Camrad_RIP 17.05.21 в 17:29 The exhausting practice with shadows yielded its results, and quite unexpectedly. But at that moment I was rested, full of energy, and eager for some kind of entertainment, so I set to work with the enthusiasm of an official sawing the state budget. The first thing I did was to grab a few shadows cast by tree branches and start piecing them together. Then, it was time to form the framework of the net, which made the hammers rattle and the birds sing in my head. Feeling like a weightlifter trying to break a world record, I continued to weave the cells together, adding, from time to time, a new shadow. For a moment, I felt a nosebleed running down my lips, and I almost blacked out. But that was not important. The important thing was to wipe the blood off my face, preferably without a drop of it getting into the water, and then have some of last night's fish for dinner. I'd get some sleep, get my energy back, and then I could try out my new acquisition. If I try it now, there's a good chance I'll have a stroke. And why would I need such health problems? I also spun a net and even caught three fish in it at once. However, because the mesh in the net was too wide, two of them swam out without much trouble. With new abilities, I could really stand up for myself. Now it was just as possible to strike with a shadow as it was to strike with a fist. It felt like trying to make a shadow sword for myself was like trying to use my own veins instead of a bowstring. I mean, it was really hard, much harder than just moving shadows. However, if I didn't aim for full shadow armor, then making a limited hard stick with a sharp point was quite realistic even with my current abilities. And having a weapon that could take the life, head, and anal innocence of a flying goblin (hussars, silence! I didn't mean it like that!) was a comforting thing. Camrad_RIP 17.05.21 в 18:36 When I tried making a sword made of shadows for myself, the sensation is best described as ‘akin to using your own sinews to make a bowstring’. I mean, it was hard, really fucking hard, especially comparing to just moving shadows around. However, as long as I wasn’t trying to make myself an armor out of this stuff, making a relatively hard rod with a sharp side was well within even my current capabilities. You know, all breaks come to an end. A sad truth that you are fully aware of, along with the minutes of smoke break before the meeting, bleeding like blood from a wound. With the sound of the alarm clock five minutes ahead, reminiscent of the fall of the tombstone. With the last day of New Year holidays, which dry up like a brook in the desert. It wasn't my super-intuition, my magic skills, or my fighting skills that saved me. It was the badly fried fish that finally gave me a stomach upset. Because of stomach upset, which even the diarrhea remedy I'd taken (alchemy is power!) didn't cure, I didn't sleep and was able to hear the quiet, almost inaudible rustling of someone's footsteps. Camrad_RIP 17.05.21 в 18:49 It wasn't my super-sensitive intuition, magical skills, or any sort of fighting instinct that saved my life. It was the badly fried fish that finally gave me a stomach upset. It’s because of that I was suffering from insomnia late at night, even if the diarrhea remedy I’ve taken (alchemy is power!) helped, I wasn’t feeling up for a restful sleep. Due to that I was able to hear the quiet, almost inaudible squeaks and rustlings under someone’s footsteps. Mortis_X 20.11.21 в 16:10 |

In my homeworld, I would never have noticed such a small signal, but the constant search for the right herbs had developed my perception, and I began to notice things that I had missed before. I had been on edge for quite some time, waiting for some kind of nasty thing to happen, just by virtue of the fact that it was impossible not to find me. I was standing out too much with my campfire, the smell of fried and baked fish, and the bushes breaking in search of the right herbs. Honestly, a couple more days and I would have decided to change my location to a new one myself! Camrad_RIP 17.05.21 в 19:13 Back home I would never have noticed such a minuscular detail, but the constant search for the right reagents here had developed my perception, and I began to notice things to which I never paid any attention before. Didn't make it in time. Camrad_RIP 17.05.21 в 19:13 Well, needless to say, it was too late for that. Mortis_X 20.11.21 в 16:11 |

But it looks like the dream of an idiot has come true. I wanted a fast grind, didn't I? Well, here he was, coming right to my door. I couldn't know exactly who was coming for me, but there was a good chance it would be goblins. The wild beasts were afraid of the smell of fire, and there was plenty of prey for them in these parts, but the green men had a grudge against me. Camrad_RIP 17.05.21 в 19:14 But it seems fools like me need to be wary of what they wish for, just in case those wishes will come true. I wanted a fast way to level, didn’t I? Well, I asked so I received, here is one such ‘a way’, approaching my campsite. I couldn't know exactly who was coming for me, but there was a good chance it would be goblins. The wild beasts were wary of fire and the smell it produced, and there was plenty of prey for them in these parts, they weren’t desperate nor hungry. But the green humanoids had a grudge against me, so there was that. Mortis_X 20.11.21 в 16:12 |

It may have been a correct guess from the wrong assumptions, but the important thing was that the guess was right. It was indeed goblins, three of them at once. Camrad_RIP 17.05.21 в 19:15 I may have drawn the correct conclusion while also being completely wrong on the bases I drew it from, but scratch that, the important part was that in the end of the day I was right! It was indeed goblins who came for me, three of them at once at that. Mortis_X 20.11.21 в 16:12 |

It's like history repeating itself! No, I'm serious! At least one of them with a torn ear was in that trio that almost ate me the first day of my adventures. Camrad_RIP 17.05.21 в 19:29 History was repeating itself right before my eyes! No, I'm serious! At least one of my midnight visitors, that one with torn ear, was in that trio that almost ate me during the first day of my adventures. Mortis_X 20.11.21 в 16:13 |

I realized that when I stood up to my full height and tightly clenched three "pills" with a rather poisonous slurry in my fist at once. At least, it would itch badly, and if I inhaled it, or spilled it on my eyes! This is no joke about "waking up," for this nasty stuff has already crumbled in my fist. The main thing is not to spill it all over myself, or it would be a ridiculous death. Camrad_RIP 17.05.21 в 19:29 I realized that particular detail as I stood up to my full height and tightly clenched in my fists three ‘pills’ of a rather poisonous powder until I felt the shell cracking. Well, not sure about poisonous per say, but at least it would itch badly if I inhaled it or spilled the powder on my eyes by accident! Once again, I am not jesting about ‘spilling it’, because this nasty stuff has already crumbled in my fist into fine powder. If I did fuck it up and somehow wind up getting it all over myself, it would be the stupidest death imaginable. Mortis_X 20.11.21 в 16:13 |

- Hummi! - The conversation was started by an old acquaintance of mine, apparently on the rights, here the sarcasm, of an old friend. - Hummi iz a lota meet! Camrad_RIP 18.05.21 в 17:46 “‘ummi!” The conversation was started by an old acquaintance of mine, probably due to the strong feelings of kinship and understanding me and my old pal over there had (thick sarcasm here). “‘ummi iz a lota meet!” Mortis_X 20.11.21 в 16:13 |

That's what I call a philosopher! Titan of thought, father of drama! A treasure trove of intellect and an avatar of spirituality! I also understood perfectly what he said, despite the fact that the language was unfamiliar. Another twist from the System? Camrad_RIP 18.05.21 в 17:46 That's what I call a philosopher! I don't know why, but I'm not scared at all. Maybe a little bit, but it's the normal kind of fear that rushes the blood through the veins, not the paralyzing terror. Maybe it's my title work, maybe I feel more confident because of my increased characteristics, or maybe I'm just tired of being afraid. I honestly don't give a fuck. I can tell you that these little cannibals are gonna pay for my bad mood, for me bloody fish diet, for fucking Bobik and my current sad situation, for the fucked-up locals who turned Heroes into a resource for farming. For everything and everyone. Camrad_RIP 18.05.21 в 18:21 I can tell you now, those little cannibals were gonna pay for my constant shitty mood, for this non-stop fish diet, for fucking Bobik, for my current sad and hopeless situation and for the fucked-up locals who turned Heroes into a resource that they farmed. They were here to pay for everyone and everything, with interest. Mortis_X 20.11.21 в 16:16 |

I threw the poison slurry that had crumbled into the bastards' faces with a sharp movement, feeling the sting in my palm, where the slurry had also landed. The effect surpassed all expectations - three bodies start howling on a high note, clawing out their eyes. Apparently, I had just witnessed a massive anaphylactic shock.
